Congress leader and Secretary-in-charge of North East, Imran Kidwai today made it very clear that the Congress wants early installation of a popular Government arid added that election to the 8th Assembly should be held along with UP, Punjab and Uttaranchal.
Kidwai further said that the Congress would secure absolute majority in the election and would provide a stable Government.
Congress is also strongly opposed to POTO and would vote against it in Parliament, he added.
Talking to newsmen at Hotel Anand Continental today, Kidwai said it is imperative that a stable and popular Government is installed in the State at an early date and added that the State should go to polls along with UP, Punjab and Uttaranchal in February next year.
Informing media persons that he along with other leaders have visited almost all the Assembly constituencies including two hill districts, Kidwai said that the present atmosphere is very favorable for the Congress.
Kidwai also said that the jilla parishad and gram panchayat election should be held after the Assembly election.
The Congress is opposed to any black law; he said and added that his party would oppose the Prevention of Terrorism Ordinance when it is tabled in Parliament.
MPCC (I) president O Ibobi who was also present said that some regional parties and the BJP and the Samata Party are not keen on early election as their prospects are dim.
